Express Well Represented In All-Star Game
The VBL officially announced the All-Star selections for the 2025 game on Monday afternoon. The game will be played at Harrisonburg next Sunday, July 13, at Eagle Field in Memorial Park (JMU baseball stadium). Gates open at 3pm, the home run derby starts at 4pm, and the actual game is scheduled to start at 7pm. The Express All-Stars are:
LANDON BEAVER (UAB)
Landon has crushed the baseball since arriving in Strasburg, currently tied for the league lead with 7 home runs. Overall his slash line is .338 / .414 / .716 with an OPS of 1.130. Beaver leads the league currently with 31 RBI and is tied for the league lead in doubles with 7. He's also scored 18 runs and stolen 4 bases.
TOPHER JONES (Ole Miss)
First and foremost, a huge congrats to Topher and his commitment to Ole Miss yesterday afternoon. Jones is currently 4th in the league in batting average at .382 with an OPS of 1.050. Topher is tied for 7th in the league in home runs (4) and is 10th in runs scored (20), also adding 4 stolen bases.
JOSH IBE (STEPHEN F. AUSTIN)
Josh is currently tied for 3rd in the VBL with 6 home runs and top 10 in both RBI (20) and runs scored (22). Ibe is slashing .338 / .512 / .712 with an OPS of 1.224. He has stolen 3 bases with 2 doubles and 1 triple.
EDDIE CASTILLO (NEW ORLEANS)
The Castillo family is no stranger to the VBL and certainly not to the All-Star game (his brother, Vic Castillo, made it multiple times including once for Strasburg). Eddie is currently batting .379, good for 5th in the league, and tied with teammate Landon Beaver for the league lead in home runs with 7. Castillo has driven in 19 runs, hit 6 doubles and is tied for 3rd in the league with 26 runs scored. His slash line is currently .379 / .520 / .793 leading to an OPS of 1.313.
JACK ANDERSON (JMU)
Jack has crushed 4 home runs and driven in 16 RBI so far this summer. Anderson has scored 12 runs and is slashing .244 / .315 / .449 along with swiping a couple bases.
JUSTIN GAY (FAU)
Justin has held multiple roles on the Express pitching staff this summer serving as both a closer and a starter. Gay has a WHIP of .84 to go with his ERA of 2.84 and is holding batters against to a .204 average. Justin has struck out 19 batters in 19 innings and walked only 1.
DAVIS BUDD (Western Carolina)
Another member of the staff that has served multiple roles, Budd has been exceled at all of them. In 15 innings he's struck out 19 batters and walked only 6. He has a 1.20 WHIP and a 1.80 ERA while holding hitters to a .222 batting average against.
